Harrison joined Accru Felsers in 2019, fresh out of high school and just 18 years old. After two interviews for an accounting cadetship role, he stepped into the world of professional services.
Harrison found it was a big leap from high school straight into full-time work, the learning curve was fast, however there was a lot of support and training right from the start.
Through structured in-house training, partner guidance, and early exposure to real accounting work, Harrison quickly began building the foundation for his career. But what stood out just as much as the professional development was the Accru Felsers culture.
“The social side of Accru was a real highlight especially events like the Melbourne Cup and Christmas picnic were great fun.”
In 2020, like many others, Harrison faced a shift when COVID hit. He made the decision to leave Accru to try his hand at a start-up. While it was a valuable experience, he found himself drawn back to Accru.
“The Friendships I had made were a big reason I returned. The people at Accru, especially the partners, are incredibly supportive and down-to-earth”
Since returning, Harrison has continued to grow professionally, recently stepping into the role of Supervisor, it’s a milestone he’s very proud of.
In his new role Harrison has found there is a lot more responsibility, especially with team members looking at him for guidance. He wants to make sure that the people he supervises are enjoying the work, and that they’re learning and developing just like he did.
One standout memory for Harrison is the Accru Sprint, which is a fun annual event he helped organise. “It was a great day, high energy, good fun, and even better knowing 20% of the proceeds went to charity”.
Looking back, Harrison credits much of his learning and growth to the opportunities at Accru Felsers, the mix of technical training, partner support, and hands-on experience has shaped his journey from a teenage cadet to where he is today.
