Eva Ewe, an accountant with Accru Hobart, recently spent a few months on secondment with Accru’s CPAAI partner firm in Washington.
Here’s what she says about her experience.
Early this year I had the privilege of being hosted by Fitzgerald & Co., CPAs for a ten week secondment in Washington DC, USA. During this period I was assigned to assist with audits. It was a great experience that included a two week stay in Cape Town, South Africa to perform an audit on the financials of a US listed company. As the international auditing standards are utilised, I was able to get right into the work. I was given good exposure to a variety of industries, which was different to the usual not-for-profit audits that I work on in Hobart. Gary and Elida provided amazing support and mentorship during the period.
I am grateful for the opportunity given to me by Accru Hobart and Fitzgerald & Co. It gave me the chance to gain international experience without leaving my current job, and I would highly recommend an overseas secondments to other young accountants.
