Accru Hobart was announced as an Employer of Choice 2015 Award Winner on 26 May. This year was the first time an Accru office has entered the Awards.
The Employer of Choice Awards are run on a state basis to recognise organisations that demonstrate outstanding workplace practices and support for their staff. To identify those who are going above and beyond to develop outstanding workplaces, the Employer of Choice survey collects data from over 2,000 employers nationwide. This year, Accru Hobart joins an elite list of 66 Tasmanian employers to be recognised over the past 8 years.
To enter the award, employers submitted a written application addressing the selection criteria. Accru Hobart’s HR Manager Kerri Hall explained “Once shortlisted, the judges visited us and interviewed the senior team and a selection of employees separately to discuss our application and get a ‘feel’ for our workplace. As they were leaving, one of the judges wanted to know if he could work with us!”
On winning the award, the judges particularly commended Accru Hobart for its team culture and structured framework enabling staff to contribute ideas. The judges highlighted the fact that “Strategic goals and financial results are regularly shared, staff are involved in setting the business direction and designing the client service model, and staff are given time each fortnight to work on business improvement projects that they develop.”
The judges also noted that “Accru Hobart focuses on recruiting staff that fit the organisation’s values, maintains a personal and professional connection between partners and staff, offers personalised reward and recognition, and supports coaching, learning and accountability.”
