Michael joined Accru Steele Burnett & Nelson in 1993 following six years at another of Hobart’s chartered accounting firms and two years as a Financial Controller for a private sector company. He became a partner of the firm in 1993.

Working primarily with small and medium sized businesses, Michael’s specialist technical skills include tax planning, business structures and financial management.  Michael is also an auditor for a large range of entities including many clubs and associations in the non-profit sector.

As Michael says “People come to us asking questions, sometimes even lost in confusion, and we give them solutions.  This is particularly evident in the first year or two of beginning a business venture when there are so many things to get a grip on.  We speak a language our clients understand.”

Michael recognizes that most small business owners and committee members have a real love of what they do and a desire to control their own destiny.  He supports them with financial and tax issues, making these as hassle-free as possible, so they can spend more time working on parts of the business that they really enjoy and make them more successful.

Michael is the Tasmanian representative to the Institute of Chartered Accountants Public Practice Advisory Committee and is the current National Marketing Director of the Accru Group.  Michael also holds positions on the Boards of The Catholic Development Fund, Gymnastics Australia, MacKillop Catholic College and the CPAAI Asia Pacific Region.
