Melissa - Partner

I still remember starting at Accru as an Undergraduate accountant and being exposed to the day to day requirements of a professional.  There was a lot to learn but the social side of the firm was an unexpected highlight.

Having been with Accru Rawsons for almost 13 years since then, I can still say the friendly culture and work/life balance is great in Brisbane.  We work hard to provide great service to clients but always ensure there is time for socialising with each other and priorities such as family and friends are not neglected.

Accru Rawsons have supported me throughout my whole career.  On-the-job experience to develop skills in all aspects of accounting work is one of the most important parts of becoming a professional. This varied experience is what you definitely get with Accru, and it is one of my favourite things about working here, along with the great atmosphere.

I was appointed to Partner in July 2008.  Becoming a partner has made me realise that all the hard work put in over the years does pay off, leaving me with a very high sense of achievement. I am also happy to have added to the ranks of female partners in the Accru group.

Now I’m a partner I want to see the firm’s atmosphere continue and others to have the variety of learning opportunities I have. I aim to put this into practice in my role as the ‘staff partner’ responsible for workflow, supervision and training of staff.
